PREVIEW: Biteye FF-A00T3 FPV Camera with built-in DVR
I was lucky enough to snag a new FPV camera from the first production batch for review – the Biteye FF-A00T3 camera with built-in DVR.
Apparently this little guy can record at 1080p/30fps. Now, a lot of small cameras can do that (808 keychain camera, Mobius action cam, RunCam, etc.), and a lot of those cameras can be used as FPV cameras. The problem is latency. Those cameras usually have a delay of ~150ms when recording, and while that’s acceptable for slow flying such as fixed wing FPV, it can cause problems with high-speed flight where quick reactions are key such as FPV quadcopter racing. Biteye promises latency of 60ms and under with this camera while recording… that’s a big deal.
I won’t have this camera in-hand for another few days, but as soon as I get it I’ll be comparing it to some of the other cameras out there as well as a few standard DVR-less board cameras.
If this camera can deliver on its promise of low latency and still record decent quality video, this could be a game changer in terms of saving weight.
